About Us…

My story began many years ago in rural New Zealand, growing up on a working farm my love of animals was apparent from a very young age.    I first began working with animals at the age of eight when I discovered that the baby lambs had a fondness for arrow root biscuits after a cheeky little imp stole one from my hand, from that moment on I never looked back.   It wasn’t long before I had the sheep literally jumping through hoops and doing all manner of tricks.  I then progressed to training chickens to do agility, and entering our dogs into show trials and winning (much to the dismay of the gruff and hardened Kiwi farmers).  I discovered early on, that this positive reinforcement method of training easily transferred to all species.

I first started working in the veterinary industry at the age of fourteen and I continue to do so to this day, although less frequently than I’d like.   My days are kept busy running our doggy daycare, puppy school & obedience classes and numerous behaviour consultations with my husband and fellow animal behaviourist Zane.  My passion for working with animals has led me to share my knowledge with thousands of students during my 20+ year tenure teaching Animal Science & Veterinary Nursing at TAFE (community college), and has afforded me the privilege of travelling the world with my work.  I’ve worked with all types of animals, from training crocodiles  to primates and everything in between.   It has also led me to volunteer & do conservation work throughout South East Asia & India with many organisations including Singapore Zoo, Tasikoki Wildlife Rescue, Borneo Orangutang Survival Foundation, and Wildlife SOS just to name a few .  I’ve also trained and continue to train animals for television & movie work, right through to animal assisted therapy dogs.

I have bred and shown Labradors, Rag Dolls & Birman’s for many years, but my love for Husky’s stemmed from my childhood visits to my uncles farm (he was a breeder of this majestic breed).   I met my first Alaskan Klee Kai several years ago when she came to our doggy daycare, and to say I was smitten would be an understatement.  She had all the beauty of a Husky, but her family friendly size and temperament made her our dream dog.  It wasn’t long before I’d imported my first breeding pair of AKK as I couldn’t wait to share my love for this breed with Australia.  I have been a registered UKC and ARBA registered AKK breeder since 2015.  We have continued to import from the USA incredible Dam’s and Sires including Top Ten dogs and Show Champions.  All of our breeding dogs have been assessed and passed both health and temperament checks.

Our puppies are lovingly raised in our family home with children, and following ‘Puppy Culture’ guidelines. They are well socialised with the the dogs that attend our doggy day care, and the menagerie of animals on our farm having been introduced to horses, chickens, cats and dogs from an early age.   Our puppies are regulars in our local cafe scene, and can often be spotted cruising in their stroller and being cuddled by passers by.  We aim to ensure our little ones are exposed to as many different people, sounds, smells and settings in their early stages of development to ensure we produce calm, good natured pups.  But above all else,  our primary focus is breeding healthy, happy, robust puppies with a wonderful temperament, and we look forward to seeing the popularity of this magnificent breed grow both here in Australia and abroad.
